Kindness from a Stranger

My dad lives in a nursing home due to his progressing dementia. Today I got to see him for the first time since before COVID to take him to an eye doctor appointment. After his appointment all he wanted to do was look at RVs (it is all that has consumed his thoughts for almost a year now). We found an RV lot and at first my Dad just wanted to look from the car but then the next thing I knew he was opening the door to get a closer look.

Within a few minutes a salesman was asking us how he could help us.
"Just helping a man fulfil his dream. We've been to an appointment and are on our way back to the nursing home," was my reply.
Thankfully neither of us were wearing masks so we could read one another's facial expressions properly...he smiled sweetly and said, "let me know if there are any you want to see."
At first I denied his offer then said, "actually, can we see inside this one?" He kindly spent the next 20 minutes, never once acting bothered or in a hurry, talking with my Dad all about the RV... knowing full well he wasn't going to making a sale.

As we ended our visit, I gave the salesman a heart felt thank you adding, "He won't remember a minute of this, but thank you for helping him to feel happiness in the moment." He kindly replied, "No, problem! You come back any time and he can look at whatever he would like!"
There is goodness in the world! And there are beautiful people in the world who see the worth & value of a stranger. ❤️ Thank you Dennis the RV salesman!!!
