No Sweat!!

Yesterday before leaving for school I reminded John to go put deodorant on. When he came back I noticed he had deodorant marks all over his black shirt...more than is normal from reaching under your shirt to apply.

M: John, why is there deodorant all over your shirt?
John looks at me blankly
S: He put deodorant all over his legs & arms!
What!?!?!? Sure enough his arms and legs were covered! No wonder the smell was so strong!
M: John, next time the deodorant just goes in the arm pits, K?
John nods and smiles
     
M: John, why did you put deodorant all over your arms & legs?
J: I don't want any part of my body to sweat.

  Grateful for milestones that bring family together...Last Saturday my brothers and I gathered to celebrate our Dad's 80th birthday!!! After 80 years on earth my Dad's body continues to be strong (mostly) while his memory continues to fade. For a man who is a planner and organizer he struggles to live in the moment and be content...I guess when you don't have current memories to reflect on, you dream and imagine your future. Inspite of his current reality we enjoyed a few hours celebrating together, laughing, sharing and watching him relive his glory days with near clarity.   There are moments in life when you realize just how blessed you are... celebrating my mom's 80th birthday recently was one of those moments!! Over the years we have moved away from one another, haven't always stayed in close contact with everyone but being together I felt the love that comes from being family! To my mom family is everything and it is her love for us individually that radiates and unites those around her! My mom is a little energizer bunny sharing, serving, living, loving, experiencing, adventureing and enjoying every moment of every day! She definitely is not 80 years old but 80 years loved!!! And on her way to many more!!
