A Dream Come True

Last week I received the most amazing gift...the chance to go on my dream vacation!!!  A few years ago Paul & I were sitting through yet another time share presentation so that Paul could receive a $75 gift card. During these presentations they always go around the room and ask everyone to share their dream vacation. I usually give the "I don't know" answer, but this time was different, I decided I was going to share..."My dream vacation would be to stay home by myself!" The presenter didn't know how to respond and assured there is somewhere I would like to travel. "Nope, My dream vacation would be to be at home, peace and quiet, doing whatever I wanted!"

Well, last Wednesday was the first day of my dream come true!!! A whole 7 hours at home to myself. I got to choose how loud or quiet the house was, I got to choose if the house was messy or not, I got  to pee without someone barging in or yelling at me from the other room, I got to eat what I wanted for lunch without listening to whining, I got to do a "mommy" chore without interruption and I got to take as long in the shower as I wanted because I didn't have to wonder what was being destroyed in my absence. It was a dream come true! And the best part was I got to do it again on Thursday, and again on Monday & Tuesday & again today! And for the foreseeable future I will get to enjoy this everyday Monday -Thursday!

So how did I finally get to experience this dream vacation you ask? After 16 years of motherhood I finally have ALL of my kiddos in school all day!!

Sarah is in 5th grade, John is in 6th grade, Rachel is in 9th grade, Elizabeth is in 11th grade & Jacob is in Kindergarten. It is a big year... three of the kiddos are at a new school, and Sarah's last year of Elementary school. They have been to school for 5 days now and tall is still going along fabulously!

Jacob has been pretty funny and excited about Kindergarten...
Before going to school on the first day he kept saying, "Today is going to be a great day!"

I was telling him last Wednesday that it was time to stop playing and get ready for bed because you have school tomorrow. He sighed and asked, "I have to go tomorrow too?" Apparently he thought Kindergarten was like preschool just two days a week.

On the way home from school on Monday he was telling me how he was tired...tired of being around all those people all day!

Despite his funny little comments, he loves school and is having a great time.

Last Wednesday while I was waiting to get the kiddos after school I realized that it was the first school day in all the years I have kiddos in school that I was SO excited to have them come home and hear about their adventures!
