I'm Going There Someday
After several days at my mom's we headed south to Springville to attend Kate's baptism, then north to Bountiful to be at Grandma Great's 90th birthday (see previous post) and then south again to Springville to enjoy the 4th of July weekend surrounded by Strongs.
When we told the kiddos we were going to Utah, the older girls asked if we could see the new Provo City Center Temple. So after church on a very hot Sunday afternoon we took a walk around the temple.
At first the kids were all very disappointed that the gates were locked and this was as close as they were going to get. Some were not too happy that they were "locked out" of the temple grounds so they slid through the gate to get a closer look.
We did find a spot where they could get a little closer...but they were still locked out and by this time were hot, sweaty & tired.
Despite some disappointment, and heat, we could still feel the peaceful spirit of the temple.
I personally loved seeing this beautiful historic building now being used as a temple. It is a beautiful story...the historic Provo Tabernacle, an old historic building of great significance to the church and the community was gutted by fire...the façade remained intact and through the wonders of modern engineering it was able to be renovated and is now a dedicated house of the Lord.
