Cousins

In true Jesse fashion a day of adventure and fun would not be complete without a visit to a park. So if hiking wasn't enough for the kiddos to get the wiggles out, playing at the park did. After a good amount of playing and visiting we enjoyed a picnic lunch, a little more playing and then finally enjoying a healthy snack of dumb-dumb suckers in the shade.

The fun continued back at the Jessees with giant water balloons on the trampoline and otter-pops!

The day continued with dinner at Grandma & Grandpa's, a walk to the local shaved ice stand finished off with playing at yet another park. When we returned to Grandma & Grandpa's Paul decided we needed a few fireworks to end off the night. Paul returned from the firework stand with some fun sparklers for the kiddos & some big boys that would explode in the sky. Our wonderful day ended on a bit of a sad note as one of the fireworks malfunctioned and came directly at us spectators causing second degree burns on Grandma Strong's bottom... The firework was in the middle of the street. We were all seated along the sidewalk, John and I were seated on the curb. When this particular firework went off, I felt as if we were in the middle of it...come to find out a few seconds later we literally were thanks to the firework tipping over after it ignited. In those few seconds I heard a commotion behind us and then saw Grandma rolling on the ground saying, "stop, drop & roll". A piece of the malfunctioned firework exploded under Grandma's chair and her bum was on fire...or at least that is what it felt like. Sorry, no pictures to accompany our firework adventure ... Although Grandma was uncomfortable for several days as her burns healed we were all very grateful because it could have been soooo much worse.

This will be a fourth of July never to forget!
