Star Spangled Cookies
Every now and then (actually more often than not) the favorite things I do with my kiddos are the simple (or not so simple) things that we do together at home. Once upon a time I was a "fun" mom who used to do crafts, art projects & lots of baking with my little kiddos. These activities were normal everyday occurrences at our house . . . but somehow as years have gone by, as the kids have gotten older & busier with activities outside our four walls these activities have become much less common.
After the pleading of a blue eyed eight year old who loves everything sweet we spent a summer afternoon busy making & decorating sugar cookies!
Despite "fun" activities happening less often around here I have learned a few tricks over the years to make these activities easier & less stressful when clean -up time comes around . . .
. . . Everyone gets their own pile of cookies, equally divided of course, and a cookie sheet to use as a tray to contain the sprinkle explosion.
Their was a large amount of creative talent oozing around the kitchen as plain sugar cookies were turned into beautiful representations of the Star Bangled Banner.
Oh, the simple joys of afternoons spent at home making beautiful memories!
