Sweet Moments From the Spirit

Twice a year we are privileged to hear from the Prophet, Quorum of the 12 Apostles & other General (worldwide) Church Leaders as they address the worldwide membership of the church in General Conference. I always look forward to this time of year.  I have always been taught to come to General Conference with a question . . .and that question will be answered. I had always believed this but don't remember putting it into practice until just a few weeks ago. As I sat and listened/watched all four General Sessions & the Women's sessions I had a couple questions in my mind, nothing overly personal or super profound, but things that were important to me. They were answered! Direction was given to me through those that spoke, confirmed by the Spirit telling my heart how I can be a more effective mother.

After 10 hours of Conference (not all in one day, thank goodness) I came away inspired to do better, to be better & with the desire & assurance that I can do it! So looking forward to listening to and reading the various talks given over & over again.

The highlight of conference weekend was taking Elizabeth & Rachel to the Conference Center Sunday morning to view conference live, in person; to be in the same room as the prophet!

We were blessed to be attendance for the session where President Thomas S. Monson spoke. As I listened to the prophet speak & could see he was physically struggling to finish his prepared talk, my heart has never been so drawn for the welfare of a speaker before as I prayed in my heart that he would have the strength to finish. In that moment I have never felt so much love for the prophet & I knew with all my heart & soul that he is the mouthpiece of the Lord here upon the earth. Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God!

The whole session was inspiring. Being there will 21,000 other members of the church gave me a better idea of just how large & vast the membership of the church is. Loved the music; hearing the Tabernacle Choir perform & all 21,000 people sing the intermediate hymn was something I will never forget. There was a power of goodness to be felt as we all unified to sing praises to our God.

The icing on the cake of our conference experience is when after we were home & talking in Family Home Evening about our experience of attending Conference Elizabeth said, "When President Monson walked into the room, the Spirit felt stronger." I knew & was grateful I had had a spiritual experience, but so much more grateful that my sweet Elizabeth had had a spiritual experience of her own.
