Strong Family Vacation 2015: Snow Canyon Lava Flow
It is no surprise that my favorite part of our trip was getting out to explore & hike through the beautiful scenery of Snow Canyon. There is just something about the fresh, clean air, natural beauty of the earth, moving my muscles, & the silence of modern technology that is so refreshing to me.
It was going to be a HOT day, so the plan was to leave at 6am, except Paul did not get the memo that Utah is on a different time zone than Arizona, so our alarm went off on hour late. Opps!
Despite the late start we were able to enjoy the lava flow hike before it got too hot. It was a real treat for the kids to be able to hike down into a lava tube & explore a bit.
The trail then led us to an overlook that made for some beautiful views & fun rocks to climb.
To get to the overlook we climbed up this sandstone mound. It had a nice gentle slope which made it easy to climb, but from the right angles it looked as if we were on the edge of the world hundreds of feet up.
What crazy Dad's would take their babies to the edge like that??? It looked a lot scarier in person than these pictures show.
Thank you everyone for coming along on this fun little adventure!
