Not So Little Anymore . . .

Many times over the years I have received the following unsolicited parenting advice from friends & strangers, "Enjoy them while they are young, they grow up so fast." Generally I have always allowed the advice to go in one ear & out the other. Yet, recently I have come to realize just how true this advice is . . .

And to prove to Mom just how "grown-up" she is, she wanted desperately to get her ears pierced for her birthday.


 She was so brave!
 

Sarah requested that her sisters join her for the big event; The first, of I hope many, "girls night out" complete with a visit to the shoe store and Bath & Body Works. I had to remind myself we weren't in a hurry and to let the girls have fun (so long as they don't embarrass Mom too bad).  They enjoyed ogling over jewelry, loved trying on the high heels & indulged themselves in smelling every little bottle of hand sanitizer in the store. It was a fun & silly evening. A birthday celebration & any "girls night out" would not be complete without a yummy sweet treat. . . FRO-YO here we come!!!

  Grateful for milestones that bring family together...Last Saturday my brothers and I gathered to celebrate our Dad's 80th birthday!!! After 80 years on earth my Dad's body continues to be strong (mostly) while his memory continues to fade. For a man who is a planner and organizer he struggles to live in the moment and be content...I guess when you don't have current memories to reflect on, you dream and imagine your future. Inspite of his current reality we enjoyed a few hours celebrating together, laughing, sharing and watching him relive his glory days with near clarity.   There are moments in life when you realize just how blessed you are... celebrating my mom's 80th birthday recently was one of those moments!! Over the years we have moved away from one another, haven't always stayed in close contact with everyone but being together I felt the love that comes from being family! To my mom family is everything and it is her love for us individually that radiates and unites those around her! My mom is a little energizer bunny sharing, serving, living, loving, experiencing, adventureing and enjoying every moment of every day! She definitely is not 80 years old but 80 years loved!!! And on her way to many more!! From three awesome Andruski kids... ...to this beautiful bunch... ... combined 17 years ago with the Browns makes for a wonderful group of great people to love one special lady!   Feeling all the feels today as we send Rachel on her way to serve the Lord as one of His full-time missionaries for the next 18 months, sharing His love and the message of His restored gospel to the people in the Ohio Columbus Mission!!!
