Summer Vacation 2014: Heber Valley Camp

The whole reason we chose Utah as the destination of our summer vacation was because of the invitation from Grandma Sue & Grandpa Steve to spend a night with them at Heber Valley Camp. The two previous summer's they had served as missionaries at the camp and were anxious to show it off & enjoy it with their family.  Because we enjoyed our short visits with them at the camp while they served as missionaries, we jumped at this invitation to spend more time at the camp.

As we were "setting up camp" and eating lunch were we blessed with a beautiful afternoon rain storm.  Thank goodness there were cabins and a large pavilion to keep us the adults dry. My kiddos were more than happy to dance, play and run in the rain with their fancy, shmancy rain coats courtesy of Grandma Sue.

Making a camp fire in the evening for roasting marshmallows was a bit smoky thanks to the rain storm.  But we all enjoyed as many s'mores as our tummies could hold.

As we were settling into our cabins for the night I turned around and was delighted to see this beautiful full moon up in the sky.  The perfect night sky for a camping trip!

I have always felt the Spirit very strongly when I am out amongst God's creations. Over the years I have developed my own theory as to why that is . . .

We are taught that we should strive to live worthy of the Spirit.  We are worthy of the Spirit when we keep the commandments and are obedient to the Father. Thus when we are obedient we can have the Holy Ghost with us.

The trees, the grass, the flowers, the birds, the deer, and even the bugs are all 100% obedient to what our Heavenly Father has commanded them to do. All of God's creations, except His children, obey with exactness. The clouds earlier in our trip did exactly what they were designed to do and exactly what our Father asked them to do; the damp wood and the beautiful moon too. They obeyed with exactness.

So it should be no surprise that the Spirit can be felt when we take time to be surrounded by things that are perfectly obedient.  But there is an extra helping of the Spirit at this camp. The part of the mountain where the camp sits was dedicated by one of the Lord's servants here on this earth; dedicated as a place where Young Women (and families) can come, feel close to their Heavenly Father, feel their Savior's love and have their testimonies strengthened.

Thank you Grandma & Grandpa for bringing us to this special mountain to share with us your testimonies and allowing us to feel of His love.
