Little Miss Lalaloopsy

I have a little girl at my house who is in love with Lalaloopsy's.  So when it came time to begin planning her 6th birthday party, it was a no brainer as to what type of party she should have . . . a Lalaloopsy party of course!

Sarah loves to help plan her birthday parties. She starts asking about her birthday sometime in the summer, her birthday is not until the end of January.  So for close to 6 months we have been scouring the internet for ideas and inspiration. Inspiration we did find and this was one of the funnest parties for me to put together (not that I have done very many).

Sarah was all sorts of confused as to when her birthday actually was because we were having her "party" (you know the one with all her cute little friends) on the Saturday after her birthday, but as a family we celebrated on the real day, January 29th.

We enjoyed cupcakes, ice cream and presents as a family. She ripped through her presents with lightening speed, hardly stopping to see what the gift was before she was on to the next one.  And then for three days she anxiously awaited the "party".

Now please forgive me, but with attempting to help 9 little girls decorate metal pails with buttons & fabric scraps, and organize games such as Lalaloopsy hot potatoe (we used a ball of yarn),  dropping clothes pins into baskets & polka dot balloon races, I some how only snapped a few pictures (I did have help from Elizabeth & Rachel).

for some reason the little girls wanted to hold their gift for Sarah in the picture?
Kind cute though

I anticipated this problem before the party started and at least got a picture of the most adorable cake I have ever made!

Birthday cakes for my kiddos are a labor of love and a family tradition I am continuing for another generation.  I think her cake was my favorite part of the party, I would like to think it was Sarah's too!

After the party was all over I was feeling very worn out (9 little girls can be very loud and with some strong personalities can be trying) and a bit disappointed that the party didn't go better.  At one point one little girls came up to me and says, "I'm not having any fun" and there were others who kept asking to go outside and play clearly not wanting to play the games we had planned.  At one point Sarah even seemed grumbly and pouty.  By the time all the little girls left I wasn't really sure how the party went, just glad it was over.  Then on Sunday after church my friend Hilary who is the party planner extraordinaire, said to me, "You throw a really fun party".  Apparently her little girl had a good time and went home and told her Mom about it. :)

Sandwiched in between Sarah's "real" birthday and  her party was the Kindergarten transportation parade.  Can you guess what kind of vehicle we made?

Yes, a Lalaloopsy car!

I love this parade that the Elementary school does. I don't love making the vehicle, but I love seeing my kiddo be so excited to drive their vehicle through the school and I love seeing what all of the other families came up with.

And as an added bonus Sarah has been serenading us with "Get Your Kicks on Route 66" ever since. (After the parade, the entire Kindergarten lines their cars up in the cafeteria, like a parking lot, and sings that song for the parents)

At 6 years old Sarah is fun, energetic, creative, independent, frequently sweet and full of magic . . . just like a Lalaloopsy.

Happy Birthday, Little Miss Lalaloopsy!
