My Baby's One!!
It is hard to believe that it has been a year since sweet little Jacob joined our family. It feels like yesterday . . . the year has gone so fast.
Jacob was extra good and extra cute today, as if he knew this was a special day . . . he should have because we were all telling him Happy Birthday all day today. Sarah was so excited that it was Jacob's birthday that she wanted to tell her whole school class about it.
We celebrated with presents & cake! What more does a one year old want? Jacob didn't care much for the opening of the presents but he sure loved what was inside a couple of them . . . lighted bouncy balls & a pin wheel (who knew items from the Dollar Tree, of all places, would be such a hit).
When it was time for cake, Jacob was a bit hesitant to dig in, after all we had just told him "don't touch" when the candle was burning as we sang "Happy Birthday" to him.
But after a little persuasion and a few tastes off of Dad's finger, he was happy to eat until his hearts content.
And eat he did!
First, one hand at a time . . .
. . . then two hands!
We had so much fun watching him explore his cake.
Who ever started the long standing tradition of letting a one year old have a "smash cake" was pure genius in my book.
A once in a life time experience. Eat a whole cake with your hands. . .
. . . make as big of a mess as you want and no one gets upset. But instead they think it is soooo cute!
It must have looked like fun because after a while Rachel & Paul, yes Paul, went over and helped themselves to some cake.
Oh, how we have loved this cute boy for the past year and are so glad that he is part of our family.
Happy first Birthday Jacob!
