Christmas Is In The Air
Normally we begin our Christmas decorating the day after Thanksgiving; I want to enjoy all the beautiful decorations for as long as possible. But due to our Thanksgiving company we waited a few extra days. The kids seemed to be more excited and anxious than usual to put the tree up and transform the house from pumpkins, leaves and turkeys, to snowmen, Santas and nativities.
Tree trimming in our house consists of Mom unwrapping the ornaments from their boxes and the kids hanging them on the tree. Paul usually decorates the top where the kids can't reach, but this year the kids had that area under control thanks to some creative thinking . . .
. . . bringing in the kitchen stools to stand on.
It wouldn't seem like Christmas at the Strong house if at some point in the month of December the counters were not covered in baking sheets of pretzels and gingersnaps and the floor covered in sprinkles. This year was no exception.
Making all the yummy treats is always a large undertaking that I don't dare do alone. I enlist any able bodies family member who wants to help.
Everyone was more than happy to lend a hand, I think some only because they were hoping they would get to taste the fruits of their labors, but none the less help they did.
We divided into "teams" gave everyone a job to do and to my great surprise everyone did a fabulous job. This past week we went about spreading Christmas cheer as we delivered goodies to school teachers, neighbors and friends galore. I think I can finally see my counters again and have all the sprinkles off of the floor.
With the tree trimmed, treats made and delivered, shopping done, presents wrapped, Christmas programs, dinners and parties completed, and the kids out of school I think we are finally ready to realx and await our famous visitor on Christmas Eve night.
Merry Christmas!
