No Tricks . . .Just Treats Please!

We had some very excited kids for Halloween this year.  They were excited to dress up as one of their favorite characters/things and to get candy, candy, and more candy!

Elizabeth went as Hermione Granger, Sarah a Lalaloopsy doll (Mittens Fluff 'n stuff), John a dinosaur and Rachel Ginny Weasley.

This year the church was having a trunk-or-treat on Halloween night, so that is where we headed.  All three wards that meet at our building participated, so the kids had a lot of fun.  I sat on the tailgate of the van handing out candy while Paul took the kiddos around to fill up their bags.  I was amazed that after only 30-45 minutes I had handed out about 300 pieces of candy.  About that same time the kids came back after visiting all of the trunks in the parking lot with their bags nearly full and ready to head home.  I felt a little bad to leave while there was still ghosts and goblins wandering around wanting candy, but our bowl was empty.

When we arrived home the kids wanted to visit a few of the neighbors.  Sarah was so cute; after we would be done at one house she would scout the street for a house with lights on and tell us in a very loud voice where she saw lighst, and then off she ran.  I had a hard time keeping up with her. Thank goodness Paul was with us and that John wasn't in such a hurry, he was more concerned about what was just dropped in his bag than in getting more for his bag.  Rachel made me laugh to; she kept asking to go home, complaining that her bag was full.  What kind of kid doesn't want to get as much candy as possible?

They all had a wonderful time and have enjoyed their candy.  Believe it or not after only a week and a half it is just about gone.  I'm rather glad though, no more temptation to eat candy I don't need, no more finding wrappers all over the place and policing the bowls to keep the candy consumption to appropriate levels at any one time.  Happy Halloween!!!
