Weekend At The Andruski's

For labor day weekend my sister-in-law, Kasey, invited us to come and visit.  There was the promise of baseball games (my kids had never been before), Paul needed to fulfill our end of a service trade and John loves to play with cars at Aunt Kasey's; so how could we turn down the invitation?  I made the mistake of telling John a few weeks ahead of time that we were going.  Everyday, multiple times a day, I was asked by John when we were going to Aunt Kasey's.

I always enjoy watching my kiddos play with their cousins, and this trip was exception.  For a little boy who appears to not pay attention to things John sure remembers when things involve rocks & water.  He had remembered well that on a previous visit we had gone to the "river" (really the aqueduct) to throw rocks.  So when Abi planned out our activities for Saturday, John was so excited to go to the "river".

All of the kids had a good time.  The best part was watching them try to dive bomb a branch with rocks that Paul had thrown in.  The water moves so swiftly that the branch made for a difficult target to hit.  It sure was fun to try though.

While Paul made good on our service trade (Kasey cut some vinyl for me and in exchange Paul fixed their door frame and hung molding around their magnet board), Kasey and I took the kids to play at the park.  My girls actually played!  Usually if there are other kids on the playground they just come and sit by me.  Not this time!  They were playing all sorts of fun games with Abi, Kade & Jace; even with kid strangers on the play ground.

And as promised my kiddos were able to go to their very first baseball game.  I was a little worried at how they would do.  John had a great time blowing bubbles for the other kiddos around us to pop.  I'm not sure if Mike, Kasey and the other adults enjoyed it, but it kept John happy. Elizabeth was probably the most into the game, as far as wanting to know what was going on.  Rachel didn't really care for any of it; she didn't know what was happening in the game and with all of the people & noise I think she just wanted to go home.  I can't seem to remember what Sarah thought of the whole event.  She did eventually fall asleep & stayed asleep through the fireworks too.  After the game & fireworks the kids got to run the bases to earn a coupon for a free kids meal from Jack in the Box.

Other adventures of the weekend included playing Mafia (I haven't played that since college), going Geocaching in the desert (we need to get a GPS), another baseball game (this time in over 100 degree heat), seeing John cover their floors with cars, paper airplanes, & squinkies, watching my girls play with American Girl Dolls with Madison & Abi, breakfast courtesy of Abi each morning & visiting with family.  Thanks for a memorable weekend Mike & Kasey!
