Watch Out! The Rocks Are Sharp

National Monument numer two on our adventure was Sunset Crater Volcano.

We walked along through the lava flow in the shadows of the volcano that erupted over 900 years ago.

The kids learned quickly to walk carefully, because the lava rock is sharp and doesn't feel so good when your knees scrape against it.

As usual we all enjoyed our hike/adventure at various levels.  John wanted to collect rocks in his pockets. The girls were trying to see who could be first to be the "leader".  I marvelled at the earths ability to keep balance, repair and foster new growth amid the challenges and destrustion of natural forces.  And I think Paul just had fun!
