St. George, Pioneer Park
When Paul's sister was checking in our first day at the time share, the person at the front desk said to her, "Oh, if you have kids with you, you will for sure want to go to Pioneer Park." She shared that with the rest of us and we were game to take the kids to a "must see" park. What kid doesn't like a really fun park, right? Well, Mallori pulled Pioneer Park up on her GPS and we headed off one morning for a fun filled morning watching the kids play at the park. As often happens when you follow the directions from a GPS you wonder where in the world is it taking you. The GPS lead us to a location nothing like the kind of park we had all envisioned, but rather to some amazing red rock formations. Could this really be Pioneer Park? It didn't look anything like a park to us. Sure enough we saw a sign and it was.
We were not disappointed in where we were only disappointed that we had not come with tennis shoes and more water. We made a mental note to come back later in the week. That we did, this is where we met the photographer for family pictures.
After being there a second time and still not "dressed" for playing and climbing amongst the red rock, we promised the kids we would be back with tennis shoes, sun screen & water for everyone on another day. We were true to our word and the first place they wanted to go was to the slot canyon we had found while taking family pictures. All four kids & Paul started through the slot. After seeing how tightly the kids fit through I knew I would not fit. John got scared and I convinced Paul to come back because I did not want to call the fire department to get him out.
So Elizabeth, Rachel & Sarah were the only ones who went through. When they got to the end, they had to climb up some rocks to "get out". Elizabeth & Rachel didn't have any problem but Sarah's legs were not long enough. She couldn't get up and she didn't want to come back through the slot and became scared and cried & cried. Paul went as quickly as he could around a different way to where the girls were to help Sarah, but by the time he got there Sarah was out. Her big sisters had come to her rescue and helped her out.
After that we had a great time climbing and exploring all over the rocks. It was Mother Natures version of a jungle gym. The girl loves to find holes/caves/openings and see if they could fit.
When we were done and asked John what his favorite part was, he said, "Peeing on the rocks." There is only one definition of pee from a little boy so yes you are assuming correct. When you have to go, you have to go.
One of my favorite parts was watching how well the kids helped each other in and around and through the rocks so that we could all have a good time together. As I write this, I think there is a deeper lesson for life to be found in our adventure.
The view of the St. George Valley was amazing as well!

| It doesn't look very narrow now, but up ahead it is the width of the girls' shoulders. |

This is definitely a must while you are in St. George if you have kids (or even no kids)!
