Another Hike in Zion

After a picnic lunch under the big tree on the grass in front of Zion Lodge the Jessee's joined us for one more hike.  This one led us to Lower Emerald Pool.  This hike wasn't as enjoyable as the first one of the day mostly due to the increase of temperature.  It was hot!

The trickle of water that flowed over the large rock wall near the pool felt wonderful and refreshing. If the wind blew just right you got a real shower as opposed to a gentle mist.  As we headed back the kids discovered these really cool holes in one of  hillsides.  How we missed it one the way in, I'm not sure.  And as all kids do they enjoyed sitting in the holes.

At the start of the trail you cross over the Virgin River on a large bridge. Oon the way back we took a detour from going over the bridge and instead went under it to get closer to the river.  The kids had a great time trying to catch tadpoles in plastic baggies.  Tyler had plans to take his home and grow them into frogs.

But pretty soon shoes came off and the kids (and adults) were wading and splashing in the water.  It sure felt good after a hike in the heat of the aftrenoon.

For one brave crazy sole wading and splashing wasn't enough and she sat down to get her whole self wet.   Pretty soon she even stuck her head in the water too!

Yes, that crazy little one is my adventurous Sarah!

Despite some tired little faces, I think playing in the river was the kids' favorite part of the whole day.  Such fun memories were made with their cousins down by the river.
