Backyard Makeover: Part 3

Paul is at it again . . .

. . .driving the neighbors skid stir around the backyard to move some dirt.  We had a pair of quail that wanted to get in on the action one day; notice the silhouettes on the back of the seat?

The kids love it when the dirt is moved around, especially John.  He would walk along shuffling his feet until there were great big dust clouds surrounding him.  We affectionately called him "Pig Pen".

And the BIG dirt pile is a big hit as well.  What kid can resist climbing to the top of a pile of dirt?

All this dirt moving was for a purpose greater than entertaining the kids.  It is in preparation for our next big project in the backyard; building a retaining wall.

Paul put in many hours laying and cutting blocks, back filling dirt, sweating and getting sun burnt.

I helped occasionally and each of the kids got in on the action in their own way.

The kids generally supervised the project and tried to see what they could get away with while Mom & Dad were busy.  But it is done now . . .

We are very pleased with the end result!  It really opens up the backyard and we are one step closer to having grass!

I am amazed! I had no idea the wall was that big. Did you name it the "great wall of Kingman?"
