Happy Birthday x2
We recently celebrated two more birthdays at our house. . . for Rachel & John! This birthday was made extra special by having cousins, Grandma Sue, and Aunt Kasey here to celebrate.
Rachel turned 8 this year! Wow, has time flown by.
She continues to add a splash of life to our family with her imagination and creativity, not to mention her sense of humor. This morning as I was getting things ready for breakfast, she was standing on her chair dancing and laughing at herself that she was dancing on a chair. So sad that more people don't get to see the energy Rachel has. One of her greatest attributes is the way she plays with John, turning everything into a game and full of fun. She has the makings to be a great occupational therapist when she grows up.
Quiet, shy, loud, boisterous and everything in between, I love her just the way she is and am so glad she is part of our family!
John turned 6 this year, and I keep asking myself, "When did my little guy get so big!"
We had his annual IEP meeting at school the other day and I was amazed by the progress that he is making and all that he has learned and accomplished in the last year. For starters he is finally beginning to master the goals that have been set for him. :) He is reading, writing (mostly recognizable letters too), able to count to 100 by 1's, 5's & 10's, and he just learned how to pump himself on the swing. These things may sound routine and normal, but they bring tears to my eyes thinking of all that these accomplishments represent. Thanks to Sarah his vocabulary, language skills and imagination are blossoming at an alarming rate (you should hear them playing pretend with John's dinosaurs).
John has a tender heart, true child-like innocence, a contagious smile and an infectious laugh that enriches my life and helps me realize I am blessed to be his Mom.
In a effort to make Rachel & John birthdays' special, despite sharing the same birth date, I have always made them each their own birthday cake. This year Rachel a number 8, and John "Littlefoot" the dinosaur. With so many other things going on and coming up the week before their birthdays' I was very grateful Grandma Sue was here and that she was very willing to help out with baking cakes, making frosting and keeping my kitchen functional. I couldn't have pulled it all off without her.
Rachel & John actually think it is pretty cool to share the same birthday. For the first time ever, I thought to take a picture of my birthday kiddos together!
