Birthday Gift for 4

As Christmas came to an end and my 2011 calendar was taken down and the 2012 calendar hung on the wall I began to contemplate Sarah's birthday. There are pros and cons to having a child with a birthday in January.  This year I was really feeling the cons.  What ever were we going to get her for her birthday?  She needs nothing, wants everything and would like anything if it came wrapped in pretty paper.

My contemplating turned into out right frustration.  I proposed an idea to Paul about getting the kids one BIG present since the other three had birthdays just a few months away.  We tossed the idea around for weeks, and finally decided we would splurge and do it.  Just a few days before Sarah's birthday we received a shipment of four huge boxes, and a large green item in the biggest plastic bag I had ever seen.  It was perfect!  I told the kids they each got one box and had to share the green thing.  They were excited!

Luckily the weather cooperated (one of the pros of living in Arizona) and during the first part of February Paul was kept very busy. But he had 5 eager helpers; which he gladly accommodated. First, each big box had to be opened and the contents spread out.

While Paul was busy laying out wood planks with a drill in hand under the supervision of Elizabeth, I kept Rachel, John and Sarah busy putting washers on screws so they would be ready to go when they were needed.

After one entire Saturday of working this is what the birthday present looked like.  Can you tell what they kids received?

After five evenings and another Saturday it was finally complete and ready to be enjoyed!

The kids were so excited to try it out.  There was something for everyone: a climbing wall,

monkey bars,

a glider swing,

and a "crows nest" to name a few.

The kids are enjoying their play set almost everyday.  I think our investment was well worth it. Happy Birthday kiddos!

Looks like a GREAT birthday present for 4 little kiddos! Our kids loved ours when they were younger... I just wish we would have gotten it when they were your kids ages! Happy Birthday to all of them!
We want to get one of those. It looks like a lot of work to build, but a lot of fun.
