Backyard Makeover: Part 1

We have great aspirations and dreams for this backyard of ours.  Unfortunately that lone tree out  there is not a money tree so are great plans will be slow in coming, but we have begun.

First thing was to hoe up all of  the weeds.  It took one entire Saturday plus a little more and we, mostly Paul, had created two huge piles of weeds.  Thank goodness for a kind neighbor with a trailer who helped us hawl the weeds away.

Next this same kind neighbor let Paul borrow his skidstir to begin excavating, and move some dirt around.

Paul even decided to dig up our almost dead tree.  Elizabeth & Rachel had a fun time carrying the tree across the yard so it would be out of the way.

Now we have a beautiful yard of dirt!  Look carefully at this picture . . .

Can you tell what changed? No the weeds growing back are not it.  No the pile of dirt is not it. (Although technically those are changes.)

We have more cement!  We had cement pored along the side of the house and along the length of the house, extending the patio out about six feet.

The kids are loving having a place to ride their bikes in the backyard.  And since the weeds are gone we even find them out in the dirt riding their bikes, digging and just having fun being kids!

looks great! It will come along... remember you are in the desert now... grass does not grow here like it did in Kentucky :)

My backyard has a lot of weeds... we will probably never clear ;)
