Wacky Weather
We have been having a lot of "weather" here in Kentucky this Spring; a lot of very wet weather. Just when the yard starts to dry out, it rains again.
It seemed to have come from no where. One minute it was sunny and the next minute there was hail falling. It didn't stick around too long because it quickly turned to rain, and lots of it. When the heavy rain finally stopped Paul said, "We have a bubble in our yard!"
One of our storms came through on Easter Sunday with marble size hail.
It seemed to have come from no where. One minute it was sunny and the next minute there was hail falling. It didn't stick around too long because it quickly turned to rain, and lots of it. When the heavy rain finally stopped Paul said, "We have a bubble in our yard!"
?????????????????????????
We had no idea what it really was or what caused it. So we sent Elizabeth out to investigate.
She had a great time jumping on the squishy bubble of lawn. We finally figured out it appeared in the location of where the down spout drain pipe ended. But it still is a mystery to us why the down spout didn't back up or why a puddle didn't form in the grass?
One of our other wacky weather storms came through last Wednesday. I was headed out that morning to run some errands before some appointments I had scheduled. As Sarah and I drove out of the subdivision I had a thought that we should stay home and not go to Wal-mart. Then the conversation in my head went something like this;
I checked the weather before we left, why shouldn't we go.
Stay home, you can go later.
What, Really?
Stay home, don't go to Wal-mart now.
How about I go to the bank instead.
Fine, you aren't going to listen so just go.
Thanks, I'm going to the bank and then Walmart.
Do what you want.
Well, Sarah and I had just finished at the bank drive-up window when the tornado sirens went off, we were under a tornado warning. Where was I going to go to get inside, my van was no where to be if there truly was a tornado coming our way. The bank wasn't open yet, and the teller didn't seem to want to offer for us to come inside. So I headed to Walmart hoping that would be safer. In the 1/4 mile from the bank to Walmart the sky went from grey and drizzling to black and rain falling diagonally. When we got to Walmart I quickly grabbed Sarah and ran as fast as I could in flip flops inside the store. As we were running Sarah kept saying, "I want to go home" all the while being pelted with rain. We were soaked through by the time we got in. The people standing in the entrance looked at me like I was nuts. And then the Walmart greeter says, "Do you want some paper towels." I guess I needed some. Thanks goodness we were safe.
Next time I think I will listen to that little voice in my head, that I know is not a little voice but rather revelation from the Holy Ghost attempting to protect me and keep me safe.
