Happy Mother's Day!
18 things I have learned after 9 years of motherhood:
(not necessarily in any particular order)
1. If you call it cake, cookies, or candy the kids will eat it.
2. If it looks like a child dressed themselves, they probably did – or maybe Dad.
3. It’s good for kids to get dirty & wet.
4. Cleaning up the house in the middle of the day is a loosing battle.
5. It is perfectly OK to let your child wear a princess dress or bunny ears in public.
6. The real magic words are, “I’m sorry. Can I try again?”
7. Always keep a package of baby wipes in the car, even after the kids are potty trained.
8. If you don’t want something played with, lost or broken don’t have it where a child can see it or find it.
9. Noise and chaos are normal.
10. Mom’s need time-outs too.
11. Family Home Evening, Family Scripture Study & Family prayer are not about feeling the Spirit in a quiet atmosphere but about creating habits and hoping something may be learned by someone.
12. Do not feel guilty if kids go to bed hungry because they didn’t like what dinner “looked” like.
13. Charts keep fighting & arguments to a minimum.
14. Whoever wrote all those parenting books either has no children or has a nanny.
15. Be prepared to see all of your weakness displayed right before your eyes, in the personalities of your children.
16. Who said certain foods have to be eaten at a certain time of day?
17. Don’t argue with a three year old.
18. There is no one way to be Mom.
