A Season of Growth

Life is like a good book, full of many chapters, some great characters, conflict, a climax and resolution. In the novel of my life I am not sure what chapter I am on but a chapter is about to end and a new one is about to begin. I think I would entitle this chapter, “A season of growth.”

Each chapter of life seems to have a way of being filled with trials and challenges and this one has been no exception. The trials started early and have been many. Some big, so big life seemed to go in slow motion and is now somewhat of a blur and others have just caused a really big headache. But somehow we have made it through and are better because of it.

The current chapter began when we moved to Kentucky five and a half years ago full of faith and optimism. Our faith has been tested more than I ever would have imagined and in more ways than I ever thought possible. And that optimism, at times has been buried by burdens I thought I was not strong enough to carry or didn’t want to be strong enough to carry.

In nut shell, I spent the first year crying everyday that we had come here. I spent the second year praying that we could leave. The third year was spent “enduring”. And in the fourth year the sun began to shine again and I found the strength to enjoy our adventure for however long we were blessed to be a part of it. And I suppose it is not until things come full circle that Heavenly Father sees fit to grant the desires of our hearts.

Paul has been offered and accepted a job transfer with American Woodmark to Kingman, AZ. As I ponder this upcoming move and change, to my surprise, I have found myself a little emotional at the reality of leaving Monticello, Kentucky; the place we have called home for the last five and a half years and the only home three of our four children have ever known or remember.

Yeah! I have already mapquested it! Apparently you are on our way to Las Vegas/Provo. So we should be your way once or twice a year. If you are ever headed the Phoenix direction you have a place to stay! My boys would love to play with your kids!
Yahoo, you are only 3-4 hours away from me. However, that will be quite a change. When are you leaving?
Tracy, I printed your post and shared it with Great-Grandma Strong. We were both crying as we read it together.
We both agree you have quite the talent of written expression.
Our prayers are with each one of you as transition happens.
