Christmas Magic
There is something magical about Christmas. I believe the magic comes from the sparkle seen in a child's eyes as they anticipate and experience the fun and feel the joy of the whole Christmas season. And this magic comes to a climax Christmas Eve as we remember the birth of our Savior . . .
Don't they look sweet sitting there all dressed in their costumes? Our rendition of the Luke 2 turned out to be a comedy. Joseph was making faces at his reflection in the TV. Mary didn't want to hold baby Jesus but instead was obsessing over presents under the Christmas tree. Mary experienced wardrobe issues that eventually led to Joseph wearing Mary's head covering. The shepherd staff was played with by the angel and at one point was being balanced in the palm of a hand like a circus trick. And I'm not sure if the wise men ever made it to the baby who had been unwrapped from his swaddling clothes. I suppose there is a great deal of magic to be found in letting children be children and experience things the way only a child could.
The magic continues as we prepare for a visit from Santa Claus. And yes, John and Sarah are putting their stockings on their feet. Isn't that were you all put your stockings?
Paul and I were awoken early Christmas morning by the stomp stomp of little feet in our bedroom, first John, then Rachel, then Elizabeth. Our queen bed was very crowded by 5:15am while we waited for Sarah to wake up. Once Sarah woke up at 5:45am we took care of morning necessities, trips to the potty and changing diapers, then we headed to the living room to see what surprises were waiting for us from Santa and under the tree.
Elizabeth claims her favorite gift was candy, but I think it was her Star Wars Lego's and her new blanket.
Rachel was excited to get a new blanket also, but I think she likes her new Strawberry Shortcake toys the very best.
John doesn't care as much about what is in the paper as he does the paper itself.Although, you see that cute panda bear in the pictures below? As John sat in his growing pile of discarded wrapping paper he made sure that his panda was right next to him and enjoying the paper pile too.
Sarah needed just one thing in her stocking. . .Pinkalicious. She carried around a full stocking for awhile unaware that there were more goodies inside. But I think she was happy to finally get to open the presents that were under the tree and play with them.
I enjoyed sitting back watching the magic happen as the kids played with their new toys and seeing the living room look like it should on Christmas morning.
It was 7:30am with all the presents open and bellies full of cinnamon rolls before any of us thought to look outside to see if the weather forecast had come true.

WE GOT SNOW FOR CHRISTMAS!
Before we went to bed there was not a flake on the ground or the sky, and when we woke up it was absolutely beautiful! The kids said it looked like we were inside a snow globe. Our Christmas really was magical!
