Something To Be Thankful For
The week before Halloween I was talking on the phone with my Dad and was telling him the BIG news of my life at that very moment and he laughed. It was a laugh of, you have got to be kidding, we live in this modern world and you are excited about what? Almost like he thought I lived in the stone age. I realize the laugh was meant to be a, when you live in the city you take things for granted laugh. None the less, those of us who live in my little subdivision in the middle of no where USA have something to be thankful for. And after I tell you what it is you are all welcome to laugh too!
The week before Halloween our neighborhood was graced with the presence for one whole day with these beautiful big machines driving along our roads.

Do you have any idea what these machines are? Or what they are doing? They are paving our roads!
Yes, it is the year 2010, almost 2011 and I am so excited that WE FINALLY HAVE ASPHALT ON OUR ROADS!!!!!!
For those that have enjoyed city or suburban life their whole lives they may not understand or appreciate how exciting this is. But after almost five years of driving on dusty, bumpy gravel roads, seeing the roads grow narrower & narrower each summer, and having rocks fly around when you are mowing the edge of the grass, this is like heaven. We feel like the cars from Radiator Springs driving on their fancy new road made by Lighting McQueen and Bessy.
It was so nice to walk along when it was time to trick-o-treat. And that bike that Rachel got for her birthday is finally getting some use. I may even have to get the cobwebs off my jogging stroller and start walking again.
We love Our Fancy New Roads!
