Business Trip
Several posts ago I wrote about my Mom coming to visit us while Paul was out of town on business for a week. Well he didn't just go out of town he went out of the country! His business trip was to Italy! His purpose was to test a couple of machines they were purchasing.
He traveled with a guy from the corporate office and they were escorted around by guys from the company that they were purchasing the machines from. The trip was mostly work related but they did get to see a few sites as they traveled to and from the facilities they were there to visit.
In Milan they were able to tour Dou Duomo Cathedral. Paul says it is made out of marble and took 5 centuries to build. No that is a not a typo, 500 years. Wow! They were able to tour the inside as well as tour the roof top. The outside of the Cathedral was very ornate with many statues of Saints and gargoyles.
From the roof top of the Cathedral they had a panoramic view of the city of Milan.
They took a brief stop at the Adriatic Sea in Rimini. They were there just long enough to touch the water, and collect some shells to bring home for the kids.
They visited a place between Vigolzone and Piacenze that was once a working castle and surrounding grounds during the medieval times. The castle in now someones home but all of the other buildings were open to the public to be toured.
He said he thought about buying the kids a child's size suit of armor.
He had an enjoyable trip. Perhaps in another season of life I will be able to join him on some of his business trips. But for now I'm just thankful that he made it home safely.
