A Right of Passage . . .
I love Saturday mornings at our house because it is my day to sleep in!!! Ok, I only sleep 'til 7:30 or 8:00 am but that is heaven after a week long of 5:30 or 6:00 am. Paul and the kids have started a tradition while Mom sleeps in . . . they get up, watch Saturday morning cartoons (really just a movie of choice) and make "Breakfast Cake". It is great because by the time I wake up the breakfast cake is all done and ready to eat.
Last Saturday I was sitting at the table eating my piece of cake when John comes over and asks for a bite. As I was about to place a bite in his mouth I noticed something odd, one of his nostrils was pink. I put the fork down, grabbed a hold of his little chin and tilted his head back to get a better look. He had stuck a little pink bead up his nose. Gross!! As I tried to get it out, without making it go farther up, I had visions of a trip to the ER. Luckily my nice Saturday morning was not ruined by a pink bead, we got it out.

If there were a list of events entitled "The Rights of Passage of Motherhood" I believe this would be on there. Lets just hope we don't get to check off, "putting something in your ear".
