One Last Summertime Adventure
School starts this next week and we decided that we needed one last family adventure before we had to say goodbye to summer. A neighbor had told me about a place they had recently been camping and really enjoyed, so we thought we would check it out (maybe one of these days we will be brave and take the family camping). So off we went Saturday morning to Dale Hallow Lake Dam Recreation Area in Tennessee.
As we walked along the trail by the river it felt like we were in some kind of Pirates of the Caribbean Adventure with all of the fog floating above the water.
It was beautiful! And Elizabeth & Rachel were very glad there were no Pirates around.

At the end of the campground we found this old vine hanging from some trees that made for a perfect swing. It was surprisingly strong.
While the girls ran around on the play ground and got very hot, John found himself a little puddle of water. When I asked him what he was doing he said, "Putting rocks in the holes." I don't think the park maintenance people are going to be too happy when their drain is all plugged up. Oopps!
While Elizabeth was using the cold water bottle to cool her sweaty forehead she discovered a new talent. Pretty cool trick!
Next to the Recreation Area is a Fish Hatchery, so of course we had to go "feed the fish". The man at the hatchery filled two buckets with food and told us to go have fun. The kids had a blast! And I learned that my kids go just as crazy over the food as the flippy floppy fish do in the tanks.
It was a wonderful morning and a great way to end our summer!
