First Day Hooray!

After a fun filled summer, it was hard to get up and get moving this morning when that alarm clock went off.  But get up and moving I did because today was the first day of school for Elizabeth and Rachel.

Last night as they were getting their clothes ready they decided that they would "match" today.  They look like they could be twins.

As Elizabeth and Rachel were getting ready this morning, Sarah was getting ready too.  She wanted to go to school like the big girls.

With that little lamb in her hand she reminds me of "Mary" . . . the one who had a little lamb that followed her to school. I'm sure glad that she has a few more years before she is off to school.

Our first stop was Walker Elementary School, to drop Rachel off. (The girls are at different schools, just the way they do things here.)

Rachel is in First Grade, in Mrs. Lori's class. Rachel has been excited to start school for several weeks.  She was excited to use her new backpack and lunch box.  I was so proud of Rachel this morning; when I was dropping her off in her classroom she asked me where she was supposed to put her lunch box.  I told her I didn't know, she would need  to ask Mrs. Lori.  And you know what . . . she did!!!  And not a whisper but an audible voice.  If this is any sign as to what will come this year, she is going to do great!

I had forgotten the camera in the car when I walked Rachel in to class, so I had to come back to get a picture of her with her teacher.  I took advantage of this moment to snap a picture of  her hard at work.

Next stop was Elizabeth's school, Bell Elementary.  Elizabeth is in 3rd grade this year, with Mrs. Carolyn as her teacher.  There are several kids in her class that she knows but as of last night she still didn't want school to start.  I'm anxious to hear how her day went.

Our summer seemed to go by so fast that I never got that, "these kids need to go back to school" feeling.  But I am happy that they are back in school and will be learning and making new friends.

The first day of school is always fun, exciting, nervous, make you wanna puke, etc... but they get over it! I am glad they had a good first day! They are getting so big!
