Yellowstone, Part 1

After more than 30 hours of driving and almost 2,000 miles we finally arrived at Yellowstone National Park. (We had just a little further to go before we would find all of the Strong's in West Yellowstone, MT where we would stay for the next four days). We entered the Park through the East entrance and the first place we stopped was Yellowstone Lake.

We mostly made this stop to let the kids get out and wiggle, and we had a little boy who was begging to "throw rocks in the lake". We found a beautiful beach area with black sand and rocks near by. It was so relaxing to be on the shore line as a family, smell the water, hear the baby waves roll up on the shore and watch the kids play and explore.

After a little bit the kids wanted to know if they could get their feet wet. Sure why not?

I had a feeling this would eventually lead to more than feet and I was correct. I don't know that you can swim in the lake (I'm not sure who would want to it is ice cold) but the kids did their fair share of wading and getting their clothes all wet.

And yes, then they added sand to those wet clothes. Yucky! They were having so much fun, I couldn't bring myself to stop them. I had to remind myself of what I have often heard my mother say, "Kids are washable".

Our adventure on the shores of the Lake was one of my favorite things about our visit to Yellowstone.

Looks like they had a blast! I wish we would have driven through Yellowstone as part as our trip to Canada!
