The Great Salt Lake

One morning while we were at Grandma Sue & Grandpa Steve's they took us out to see the Great Salt Lake. It is an incredibly salty lake so it is not used much for recreation but there are many types of chemicals/elements that are extracted out of the lake. Our purpose in visiting the lake was to look for and catch brine shrimp.

The girls went with Grandma Sue to find some, but never did. Grandma thought the water was not deep enough for the shrimp in this spot. They had fun climbing on the rocks and watching the sea gulls though.

The salt water smell and sound of sea gulls reminded me of being at the beach.

John missed getting to go down by the lake because he had fallen asleep in the van. He finally did wake up right before we were about to leave and was bale to find a little patch of sand to play in for a few minutes.

On way home we stopped by a little gift shop where bought Salt Water Taffy. We let John and Sarah help pick out the flavors, they thought that was pretty neat. It was a fun little outing and now we can all say we have been to the Great Salt Lake.
