Baptism Day
The very best part of our vacation was saved for the very last . . . Elizabeth was baptized!
For members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the 8th birthday is a very important one. It is then that you can choose to be baptized, choose to make covenants with our Heavenly Father; that you will keep His commandments and follow the example of His son Jesus Christ. Elizabeth turned 8 in March, but wanted to wait to be baptized until Grandma Sue was home from her mission and until we were in Utah, so that all of her Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins could be there.
July 9, 2010 was Elizabeth's special baptism day!
Her baptism was made even more special because she was able to share it with her cousin Breanna.
Everything at the baptism went great, although we almost forgot to have her take her glasses off. I suppose that wouldn't have been a big deal, just a pain to clean afterward. The best thing I did that day was ask my sister-in-law Kasey if she would keep an eye on John & Sarah. It was so nice to focus my energies on Elizabeth instead of wrestling with my two little ones. Thank you Kasey!!!!
At the baptism the Primary President from Breanna's ward encouraged the girls after the baptism to write down their feelings about their baptism. Elizabeth wrote, "I felt happy that I was baptized. After I was baptized I felt different, like a new Elizabeth. I felt that Heavenly Father was happy and that I had made a good choice. I wore a pretty white dress and people said that I looked like a princess. I liked that the water was warm and when I got the Holy Ghost I felt happy."
Oh, my sweet Elizabeth . . . Your baptism day was a very happy day!

I was more than happy to play with John and Sarah. They were so much fun! Hopefully I did not teach them too many bad things. They loved the queen and king chairs!
