Pre-Summer Backyard Fun

The weather has finally warmed up and it is beginning to feel like summer in Kentucky; hot and humid.

You would think after four years we would be used to the humidity, I don't know if you ever get used to the summer-time humidity, you just learn to tolerate it better. And we have found the best way to tolerate it . . .

. . . is to get wet!

Once we start the daily ritual of sun screen, they start asking to put on the bathing suits and to go "swimming". Our swimming adventures in our tiny pool usually come with water balloons, the slip 'n slid, or in this case water on the trampoline.

And occasionally a good old fashioned water fight!

As I sat filling up water balloons and watching the kids play I couldn't help but think how wonderful it is that my kids love to play with each other. Sometimes Paul and I wish that we lived in a "neighborhood" where our kids would have other kids their age to play with. Where having a friend come over to play doesn't take advance phone calls and scheduling. But you know perhaps we don't have it so terrible . . . they are spending time nurturing the friendships that will last through eternity; the ones with their family!

so true! They hopefully will be bonded, so when they need to they can stick together! Soon, though, if they are like my kiddos... they will fight nonstop!
