"Do we have school tomorrow?"

Since the beginning of the year I have heard one question countless times each day: "Do we have school tomorrow?" The kids have gone to school one day this year. It has been cancelled due to the heat not working or to snowy road conditions. No we haven't gotten very much snow but it has been cold, so any snow that has stuck to the ground has stayed.

So what does a Mom do with four kids who have already had two weeks of Christmas vacation and now a week and a half of cancelled school?

We made snowmen. . .

. . .out of items from the craft shelves. We didn't have enough snow outside to build a real one.

We made tents. . .. . .of all sizes and in all sorts of places.

John played in the snow. . .. . .but only for about 5 minutes because on this day the windchill was -2.

When the grumpy little boy got stuck. . .. . .I didn't feel guilty letting him stay stuck a little longer than usual.

We watched lots of movies. . .
. . .even the ones that are a little scarey (they were watching the Care Bear Movie).

And when I got really desperate. . .. . .I invited the kids to exercise with me. Surprisingly they really wanted to and stayed with it for the whole 25 minutes.

But most of all being home with four kids on an unexpected "Winter Vacation" I learned that. . . My Sister-in-law, Kasey, helped me make this sign for the kids' bathroom, to hang on the wall opposite the toilet. I thought I would take advantage of a captive audience. It turns out that that captive audience is more than those under 42 inches tall!
