Worth Every Cent of My $2.00
I wrote this post about a month ago, and have been waiting to get a picture from someone else to put with it. (I forgot to take my camera along). I tried scanning the picture from the newspaper but it didn't work so great. So rather than wait any longer I decided to publish the post anyway.
Back in September Elizabeth's teacher sent home a paper with addition facts, 0-12, on it. Elizabeth was supposed to be learning these in preparation for timed quizzes. These timed quizzes were preparing them for the 2nd grade addition bee. I tried just asking her the equation, but that just frustrated Mom because she wouldn't pay attention to hear the problem. I decided my girl with a near photographic memory needed flash cards if she was going to learn these things. So I forked out $2.00 to buy two sets of flashcards. And each morning at breakfast I would quiz Elizabeth on her addition facts.
Payday came when at the Addition Bee Elizabeth took 4th place (out of 9 classes) in the written assessment portion of the Bee. She answered 51 problems in 2 minutes.

I'm glad I decided to go and watch. It was a proud Mommy moment. Good Job Lizzy!!
