Trees + Autumn = Fun

Ever since school started the girls have been asking me when can they go play in the leaves. We had a short lesson on seasons. And whenever they saw a leaf in the grass they wanted to pick it up and put it in a bucket to save so they could make a leaf pile. Despite living in Kentucky where there are trees everywhere we don't have any big enough in our yard to create a leaf pile. So they thought if they collected all that blew into our yard eventually they would have enough. I assured them that our neighbor who has a HUGE tree would let us go and play in her yard.

We finally had a free evening when it wasn't raining so we headed to the neighbors for some fun.

Everyone was willing and excited to help create the pile. Some had rakes others used their hands. It didn't take long before we had a pile big enough to jump in, be buried in . . .

. . . to throw in the air, and just be a kid and have fun with.

Sarah wasn't so sure about being in the pile of leaves, she preferred watching the other kids from the tree swing.

And Elizabeth discovered that even more fun than jumping in the leaves was being dumped into the leaves from the wheelbarrow.

When the playing slowed down we filled up the big pumpkin leaf bag with the help of our neighbors grand kids.

All my kids wanted to know, "When we can play in the leaves again.?" There is something to be said about getting outside and having some "good old fashioned fun".
