Jumping Days Are Getting Closer
A little over a year ago we were enjoying an afternoon at the park for a church picnic. I was with the kids on the walking trail and Paul was playing a pick-up game of basketball. As we approached the basketball courts on our walk I saw Paul on the ground hugging his leg and he wasn't getting up. After a trip to the emergency room we learned that he had ruptured his left patella tendon. He was sent on to see an orthopedic surgeon and was having surgery the next day. He spent the next 6 weeks at home recovering, and the next 2 months visiting the physical therapist.

His knee has done very well and for the most part Paul is back to normal activity. (He is a bit hesitant to play basketball though). When they did the initial surgery the surgeon put in a stabilizing wire to help in the healing process.

That little wire has limited the range of motion in Paul's knee and also makes it a bit painful to kneel for very long. So he consulted with a different Orthopedic Surgeon about having it removed. Last Thursday was the big day. He had out patient surgery to "remove retained hardware". When we got home that evening he said he would do that kind of surgery any day compared to the first one.

Surgery #2:

The day of surgery he said his knee felt better already. He could tell a big difference in the function of his knee with that wire gone and he likes it much better.
So now Rachel keeps asking, "When is Daddy going to be able to jump on the trampoline again?"
