Family Home Evening: Strong style!
You know all those articles in church magazines, General Conference talks, and not to mention the pictures; depicting family home evening? They are not of "real" families. Because this is what happens when a "real" family has a "real" family home evening!

This was one of those nights that trying to maintain any sort of reverence during family home evening was an uphill losing battle (that happens a lot at our house). And rather than have everyone grumpy and/or crying by the end of family home evening, we gave in and let the kids have fun, and enjoy being kids.
To top it off we had Oatmeal cookie dough for our treat, Mmm! (Paul and the kids ate all of the chocolate chips.)

Family Home Evening??? "The home is the most important place for gospel learning. . . Families [are] to take time to pray and sing together, read the scriptures, teach the gospel to one another, and participate in other activities that would build family unity." (True to the Faith, p.65) It's a good thing it doesn't say anything about sitting reverently or paying attention to any part other than the treat.
