Spring Mus-i-cal
Tonight was the big performance of Walker Elementary's First Grade Spring Musical, "E-I-E-I-Opps!" And would you believe it Elizabeth was in it, and she even had a speaking part.
When they sent home the information about it several months ago Elizabeth said she didn't want to do it, so I never returned it. Finally I received a permission slip form specifically for her from the music teacher, so I wrote back she has my permission but she says she doesn't want to do it. Then Elizabeth tells me she is going to be in it, just part of the chorus. They were learning all the songs during music class.
One day when I picked Elizabeth up from school the music teacher told me that she had assigned Elizabeth a speaking part. "Oh, really," was my response a bit skeptical. She was going to be a mouse. Well we practiced her line each day at breakfast or on the way to school: "But what are we to do old mule, to make her feel much better." And every so often I would get updates from the music teacher on how Elizabeth was coming along.
They performed the play three times this week, once for the Kindergartners, then again the next day for the Preschoolers, and the last time tonight for parents. And you know she did really well. We could hear her and understand her and she was the cutest little mouse.

On the way home I asked her if she was happy or sad that tonight was the last performance? She told she was sad because she wanted to do it again! I'm so proud of her!
