"And Away they go"
Celebrating the Kentucky Derby is a big deal and John's preschool celebrated with a race of homemade stick horses. John did not have school the day of the race, but because we were there to see Rachel his wonderful teachers let him race. He did well walking onto the "track" with his class, and he even was content to sit and wait with his class. . .
. . . for a few minutes then he rode on over to me in the "grandstand" of parents, and grandparents.
When it was his class's turn for the big race one of his wonderful teachers came and got him and let him line up with all of the other kids. He was so excited to get to ride his horse. By no means was he the fastest jockey out there, but I think he had the biggest smile and the most fun. He took his sweet old time to reach the finish line, but he reached it!
