Hunting for Eggs!

The Saturday before Easter the kids had the traditional Easter Egg hunt, but not so traditional. It has been very rainy and the grass was wet and squishy. So we had our Easter Egg hunt inside.

That was OK because inside there are more fun places to hide the eggs. It was good that we did have it inside because John and Sarah opened up each of their eggs as they found them, there were lots of dropped jelly beans. That would have been really yucky outside, because I am sure John would have picked them up and ate them even if they were muddy, wet and sticky.

This was Sarah's first time to participate in an egg hunt. After finding a few eggs, (the little ones were her favorite), she plopped herself right down to enjoy the treats inside, and play with the eggs. That left lots of eggs for the other kids to find.

After the kids had found all of their eggs and emptied them they wanted to find them again. One part of the yard had dried out enough that we took the egg hunt outside. This time most of the eggs were empty, we put a few coins in some of the eggs.

Elizabeth & Rachel were in search of the eggs with money. They would pick up an egg shake it, and if there was no money they would put it back and move on to find an egg with money.

John liked to pick the eggs up, carry them in his arms and then take a load over to where he had parked his basket in the middle of the grass, not very efficient but he didn't care.

The kids finally did get all of the eggs picked up.

Because the eggs were empty, at Rachel's request, we had an egg fight. Towards the end Rachel loaded up a bowl with the eggs then chased Elizabeth around the yard so she could dump them on her sister. I think all of the eggs eventually spilled out of the bowl before she caught up with Elizabeth.
