Thankful Moments in the Yard
Thankful for the beautiful world that I get to live in.
I planted these tulips the first fall that we were here. That next spring I had single flowers scattered throughout the flower beds. Now I have beautiful clumps of flowers that say a cheery hello each time I go outside.
Thankful that only the trampoline was damaged in the two most recent wind storms.
When we had a big storm about a month ago the trampoline blew into the neighbors yard, (about 10 feet from the brown house in the background). The enclosure got a small tare in it near the top. The most recent storm last week finished off the enclosure.
Thankful to have a husband who is willing to work hard to provide for us.
This is our new garden, our Square Foot Garden. When I told Paul I wanted to try this method of gardening he was happy to give it a try. He has built boxes (he enjoyed using his dusty power tools), mixed soil and started planting seeds & roots (strawberries, onions, lettuce, spinach & peas.)
Thankful for memories.
We have an large empty garden plot, thanks to our Square Foot Garden. While we were planting in the garden last night the kids had a great time playing in the dirt. Dirt + bucket of water + shovel = mud. John & Sarah each got a shoe stuck in our red clay mud. Liz & Rachel made mud stew. I would have loved to have pictures of the kids, but our camera battery was dead. The kids will have to enjoy it while they can, because soon Paul will turn our mud into grass & he hopes a place for a shed.
Thankful for the reminder of what life is all about.
My kids try my patience and provide me with plenty of opportunities to turn my weaknesses into strengths. But most of all they help me to keep my priorities in order.
