Strangers in a Strange Land
In primary we are teaching the kids the song “He Sent His Son” to sing in Sacrament Meeting on Easter Sunday. I’ve been listening to it in the car to help Liz & Rachel learn it better. As I was listening one day I had one of those “I finally get it” moments.
How could the Father tell the world of love & tenderness?
He sent his Son, a newborn babe, with peace and holiness.
How could the Father show the world the pathway we should go?
He sent his Son to walk with men on earth, that we may know.
How could the Father tell the world of sacrifice, of death?
He sent his Son to die for us and rise with living breath.
What does the Father ask of us?
What do the scriptures say?
Have faith, have hope, live like his Son, help others on their way.
What does he ask?
Live like his Son.
I have always thought that because I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints I was unique. And that uniqueness spreads over into every aspect of my life. A little over 3 years ago Paul & I along with our two little girls found ourselves surrounded by strangers in a strange land. Slowly those strangers have become friends, and I have learned that many of them are unique too. Their uniqueness comes by following what “the Father asks of us.” It comes as we “live like his Son.”
I have met many wonderful people in this "strange land" of other faiths who love the Savior, know the Savior, sacrifice for the Savior & live like the Savior. They too are unique; not because of their membership in a church but unique because they live a lifestyle different than those in the mainstream of the world today.
