Rachel is 5!
Rachel's birthday was the second birthday celebration of the month at our house. Wow! 5 years old! Sometimes I look at her and am amazed at how she is growing up so fast.
She had a good birthday. We took cupcakes to share with her preschool class at lunch time. For her birthday dinner she chose Spagetti O's. A few months ago when we started talking about birthday cakes she got it in her head that she wanted a castle cake. I tried to persuade her otherwise, but to no evail. Luckily we finally found a "simple" castle cake in a cake book that she liked. So I did my best to recreate it. (I have all new respect for my Mom and her abilities to decorate cakes. I loved watching her as a little girl. She made it look so easy. I'm learning that it isn't quite so easy to get what is in my head to come to life). Rachel loved her pink castle cake.
All day long she was wanting to eat her cake and mostly open presents. I had to keep reminding her that we would do it after dinner. When it came time to set the table for dinner, (which was her job for the night but being her birthday I was going to do it for her), she jumped right up without even being asked to set the table. I think she knew the quicker we eat the quicker she got her presents. And all through dinner she would squeal and do a 5 year old version of the 18 month old "Rachel wiggle." (Those of you who knew Rachel at about 18 months will remember the cute little wiggle she had when she got excited.)
