Brownies & Bubbles
Our Sunday afternoon ritual is to make treats. Sometimes we share them with others, and sometimes we share them with ourselves (especially when there are so many little hands reaching in the bowl for a "taste"). Paul is a brave Daddy to attempt the task of Brownies with all four kids helping.
I learned that there is more than one way to "lick the bowl". Mom's way: you leave just enough in the bowl so all the kids get a spoonful. And then there is Dad's way. . . . .
. . . you scoop out a big hunk of brownie batter right onto the counter and let the kids dig in. Dad's way is defenetly more fun . . . and messy.
Sure we had a sticky floor, but finally there was something all the kids could enjoy together, and not fight. And Sarah even learned a new word, "Bu-Ba" (interpretation: bubble).
We count our many blessings that we were not harmed by the ice storm that hit most of the state of Kentucky. But with the little bit of ice on the roads, dusting of snow and forecast for more snow, school was closed for 8 days in a row. I love being with my kids but we all began to go a bit stir crazy being couped up in the house. I was brave enough to take all four kids by myself to the store twice , and the library once. John had the biggest need to burn off energy after being inside so long, but we finally found something to keep him from getting into trouble, bubbles.
Thank goodness for the small things in life; brownies & bubbles, to create some fun memories and find a few moments of peace and joy.
